Asking for a Photograph.
Difficile est tenere quae acceperis nisi exerceas

" the Pinholed Photographer "(Sept 2002)

As so often, I had an image in my head, true, they don't come out all the time. This one was different though, I did not make a Photograph, I asked for a Photograph. Usually those who ask don't get anything, but then, this is different with Pinhole Photography.

I did load my 8x10 Polaroid cassette with Polaroid type 809 and decided to develop on type 804 when returning home. The usual ritual, leveling the tripod, attaching the 8x10 Gandolfi with a 0.57 precision Pinhole mounted on the Lensboard, choosed the focal length to be 165mm, making a mental composition, measuring light and compromised exposure between f360 and f512.

Then standing in front of the Camera taking off the lenscap, stepped back for about 20 seconds, while asking for this picture to be made before closing the hole with my hand and simultaneously closed the darkslide. Final exposure was around 25 seconds.

Done!

Now I was on my own with my thoughts, driving home to process the Image, while thinking of my own quote "Expose for the Magic and develop for the Surprises"

This is exactly what happened.
